Residential Dumpster Rental
Homeowners usually rent a 10, 15 or 20 yard dumpster, placed on the driveway. A 10 fits one room or a small cleanout, a 20 fits a whole-house cleanout or most roof tear-offs. On a driveway you usually don't need a city permit. We book it with a local hauler and schedule pickup when you're done.
Updated 2026-11-05 · Your flat-rate quote includes delivery, pickup and a weight allowance, and it is spelled out before you book. No hidden fees.

Planning your residential dumpster
Driveway placement
A 20 yard container is roughly 22 feet long. Measure your driveway, check for low branches and wires, and leave room for the truck to back in.
Protect the surface
Ask about boards under the rails if you want to protect your driveway.
HOA rules
Some homeowners associations limit how long a dumpster can sit in a driveway. Check before you book.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a permit for a dumpster in my driveway?
Usually not. Permits are generally needed only when a dumpster sits on a street, sidewalk or other public right-of-way. HOAs may have their own rules.
Will a dumpster damage my driveway?
A loaded container is heavy. Ask about boards or other protection under the rails, and avoid soft ground or new asphalt.
How long can I keep a residential dumpster?
The rental period is set by the local hauler and listed on your quote. Ask for extra days when you call if you need them.
Not sure what size you need?
Call us with the project and we'll size it with you, then book it with a local hauler.
